      KSCFF members The location for the upcoming meeting in Junction City will be at 3806 Rucker Rd.  Exit 295 I-70 north on US 77 for 3.4 miles turn left at Rucker Rd and go west on Rucker for 1.5 miles, driveway located on North side of Rd.  Signs will be located at the entrance of the drive.   Lunch will be provided starting at 12:00 and the meeting starting around 1:00.

      KSCFF Officers and Membership President Wing has called for a Board meeting to be held on November 5th in Junction City.  President Wing has also made the meeting open to all members who would like to attend.  The location of the meeting in JC is to be determined but should be done in the next couple of days.  Meeting is scheduled to start around 1:00 pm.

      KSCFF Executive Board and Membership The Junction City Fire Fighters IAFF local 3309 along with President Wing have made a decision to cancel the 75th Conference for 2020.  This decision was not easy to make but necessary.  Much discussion was had between myself and Wing and it became clear this was the right thing to do.

      Members of the Kansas State Council of Firefighters, Due to the Covid-19 pandemic IAFF local 3309 along with President Wing have decided to postpone the annual conference until a later date.  As you can imagine this decision was not easy but needed to be made.  We are currently looking at dates in September being mindful of the IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter conference.

      Members of the Kansas State Council of Firefighters.   The 72nd annual conference will be held in Hays Kansas June 14th to 17th.  Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.

      One of the Hays L-2119 members has a sick child and a quilt is being made as a fundraiser.  Local 2119 is requesting that Locals bring t-shirts to the Legislative reception, in Topeka, to be made into a quilt.   For more information contact Brandon Woods.

      In the afternoon of May 9, 2021, Members from Engine 42 was dispatched to a fire alarm at the Dove Valley Apartment near S. Potomac Road and E. Broncos Parkway in Arapahoe County. Upon arrival, members found smoke conditions in the apartment and upgraded the response to a working multi-family structure fire.

      Just before noon on Sunday, May 2, 2021 SMFR received calls for a kayaker who fell into the water at Cherry Creek State Park. Within minutes Local members arrived and were able to obtain multiple reports of the person’s last known location. Members from the Dive team started an extensive shore-based search fighting through near-zero underwater visibility and incoming storms.

      Around 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2021, Local members responded to a traffic collision involving hazardous materials in the eastbound lanes of Hampden Avenue just west of Dahlia Street in Cherry Hills Village. 3 vehicles were involved including a passenger car that overturned as well as a commercial landscaping truck that tipped over.
