    Elevator Inspection Bill passes
    04/25/18 - IUEC Local 10
    We are pleased to report that Maryland Governor, Larry Hogan, signed our Inspection Bill yesterday.  As mentioned before, this bill has 3rd party inspectors witness the 5 year tests, effective October 2018.  The 3rd party will witness the annual tests on public buildings, effective October 2019.  They will then witness annual tests on private buildings effective October 2020.

(Lacey) Greatly Loved In Weymouth, formerly of Dorchester and Roxbury, April 6th, age 89 years, passed away at home after a courageous and progressive battle with lung disease. June was a supportive, generous, selfless, and humble woman with a big heart, and if need be, could be a spitfire.

    Officer Carlos Ponce's (#2153) father suffered a medical issue on Saturday, April 21, 2018.  He is currently sedated in the Intensive Care Unit at a local hospital.  Needless to say, hospital and doctor bills are beginning to pile up and cause a financial strain on the family,  Officer Ponce's mother had to quit her job to take care of her husband.

    As we have decried for years, we really need GATS numbers for your case files. An increased number of cases don't have GATS numbers on the Step 2 Appeal to Arbitration or the Step 3 Appeal. In a number of cases it is because the local has failed to go into EGS and modify the Step 2 grievance form. Double-check your denials to see if the GATS number is on there.
